Catherine Zeta Jones Favorite Beauty Products

Catherine Zeta Jones is a timeless beauty, but admits she was a bit of an ugly duckling growing up .

I had eczema as a kid and my mother would use the Eight Hour Cream [Elizabeth Arden] on my flaky skin. I still slather it on my lips, elbows and toes.

Who knew Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream was a cure for eczema?

Some of Catherine’s other favorite beauty products are:

I always come back to this color. It's a classic.

Essie Nail Polish in Ballet Slippers, $8

This is a staple in my makeup bag. I use it every day.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, $19

It's fabulously moisturizing and smells heavenly

Juicy Couture Beauty Couture Couture Sugar Scrub, $45

These are designed to work so well

Tweezerman Slant Tweezers, $20

It really works. Once I started using it, I couldn't live without it.

Elizabeth Arden Prevage Face Anti-Aging Serum, $155

Katy Perry Beauty Secrets

Katy Perry Exclusive: Our Cute Cover Girl Dishes About Her Favorite Lipstick, Nail Polish, Face Stuff & More!

GLAMOUR: How do you get your lipstick to stay put?

KATY PERRY: Well, I never wear a gloss because my hair gets in the gloss ‘cause I move around too much and it streaks on my face. I’m just more of a matte girl in general. It’s just what I like.

Is there a specific matte brand or style that you like?

Nouba is a lipstick that I love. It’s a blue-red lipstick with a little gold shimmer in it. I also blot it with a tissue and then I put powder over it—and then it stays. And stains are perfect too. [Especially] The Benefit stain.

What is one beauty product you used in high school and still use today?

Palmer’s cocoa butter body lotion. I lotion every day. I can’t leave the house without it!

What’s your favorite makeup remover?

It’s Shu Uemura. It’s an oil that you put dry on your hands and just use on your face and towel it off! It’s so good because…it takes all of it, it just lifts it really well.

What's the most surprising thing in your bathroom/makeup kit? Anything that we might not expect to see?

I love the Bumble and Bumble dry shampoo black powder. I use that all the time. Oh, I live and die by baby wipes. I use ‘em for my hands and my makeup… and there’s this egg-shaped sponge that I live and die by too.

How many lipsticks do you usually travel with?

I travel with a makeup artist so they travel with a lot.

But what about you? Like, do you have any in your fabulous bag?

Yeah, probably like three. But I kind of collect them: It doesn’t matter who they are, it’s the color and the feel. You know, it could be Wet ‘n’ Wild for me--I’m not particular. [Later Perry revealed that she had one of YSL's Rouge Volupte lipsticks stashed in her purse.]

Any other beauty faves?

I love my Minx nails. They’re fabulous. I love nail decals. [Shows nails with a “25” on one nail.] That one says 25, 2-5, because it was for my 25th birthday--I had a Willy Wonka themed birthday.

Those are great! Are those perfectly shaped nails yours or are they fake?

No, it’s just a sticker on top. I’m peeling them off right now because I have a shoot tomorrow, but they’re great. They last forever. And there is no drying time, so literally if I needed to pack my apartment after I got my nails done, I could. It’s brilliant. And you know, I’m such a hands-on person, playing my guitar all the time, etc.

Do you use stickers regularly, or just for this?

I usually only wear Minx because the regular manicure or only lasts 2 and 1/2 days on me. I’m using my hands too much. And that doesn’t sound appropriate. [laughs]

Okay, the one beauty product you’d freak out over if they took it off the market?

Secret Camouflage 2 by Laura Mercier.

How do you get your hair to look so shiny?

Um, the blood of virgins. [laughs] No, I use a L’Oreal Professional color hair shampoo and conditioner. I live and die by that, too. (It comes in a pink bottle.)

What skin care products do you use on a daily basis?

I just started using, about six months ago, Proactive. I had done treatments and peels and microderms and stuff like that, and nothing was working because I actually started breaking out right when all this happened--I think because I was so stressed out. I had used Proactive early on when I was a kid--and either I didn’t know how to use it right, and so it didn’t work on me...but then I started to use it again, more sensibly. And it’s like the only thing that’s really worked for me since. It makes everything flat.

67th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Beauty Breakdowns Part 5

Olivia Wilde @ 67th Golden Globe Awards

Lisa Edelstein @ 67th Golden Globe Awards

Rose Byrne @ 67th Golden Globe Awards

Ana Marie prepped the skin with Secret de Vie Toner (her favorite!) and then applied Lancôme Bienfait Multi Vital moisturizer to keep skin hydrated and fresh. Lancôme Absolue Foundation in Ecru was applied with a foundation brush and blended with a makeup sponge. This helps the foundation go on evenly and keep the skin looking radiant.

To create a sultry smokey eye, Ana Marie used Lancôme Eyeshadow Quad in Innocence Couture. The Positive shade was swept all over the eyelid and Fashion Scoop and Backstage Pass were blended just to the lash line and smudged. Next, Lancôme Artliner in Noir was used to create a cat line for extra drama. Lancôme Définicils Waterproof Mascara in Black coated the top and bottom lashes.

Lancôme Color Design Cream Blush in Petticoat Pink was dabbed on the apples of the cheek and then topped with a powder blush, Lancôme Blush Subtil in Cedar Rose. This technique helps keep the cheek color fresh all day, even with the rain! Shu Uemura Loose Powder in Translucent was dusted on the T-zone to create a matte complexion. Finally, Lancôme Juicy Tubes in Simmer gave Rose her ultra-glossy pout.

Emily Blunt @ 67th Golden Globe Awards

Jenn Streicher, makeup artist using Dior Beauty, says her inspiration was: “Emily wore a beautiful sleeveless pink frilly dress, so we wanted the makeup to be beautiful, soft and feminine.”

67th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Beauty Breakdowns Part 3

Courteney Cox @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Make Up:

Celebrity makeup artist Genevieve gave Courteney Cox her Golden Globes look, pairing a sexy smoky eye with a pale nude lip.Genevieve lined Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in Gris Noir on the upper and lower lash line to define Courteney’s eyes. Several coats of Lancôme Hypnôse mascara in black gave her lashes a beautiful boost of volume. Genevieve added Lancôme Color Design Eyeshadow in Honeymoon to the inner corner and The New Black to the outer corner to make Courteney’s eyes pop. Genevieve added just a touch of color to the cheeks with Giorgio Armani Sheer Cream Blush #2. For Courteney’s soft neutral colored pout, Genevieve dabbed on Lancôme Color Design Lipcolor in Pale Lip.

Jaime Pressly @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Tina Fey @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Funny lady and Golden Globes nominee Tina Fey was made up by celebrity makeup artist Ana Marie last night at the 67th Golden Globe Awards using Lancôme products. Here’s the scoop on Tina Fey’s makeup at the awards straight from Ana Marie. The inspiration, says Ana Marie, was Old Hollywood/1950’s with a twist.

Tina’s skin was prepped with Lancôme Secret de Vie Toner (Ana Marie’s favorite!) and moisturized with Bienfait Multi Vital, a combination that keeps the skin looking vibrant all day. Lancôme Absolue Foundation in Pearl evened out Tina’s complexion. Ana Marie applied it with a foundation brush and blended with a damp sponge to make the foundation more transparent.

To create a sun-kissed look, Ana Marie layered a cream blush (Lancôme Color Design Creme Blush in Petticoat Pink) with a powder blush (YSL Blush Variation in #18 Coral Sand). Layering the different textures allows for long-lasting color.

For the eyes, Ana Marie lined the top and bottom lash line with Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in Black Coffee and curled the lashes using a Shu Uemura eye lash curler. Lancôme Défincils Waterproof Mascara in Black was applied to create separated, dark lashes.

Lips were lined and defined with Le Lipstique in Sheer Natural and filled in with Lancôme Color Fever Shine Lipstick in Tempt Me. For a fresh, glossy finish, Ana Marie used Lancôme Juicy Tubes in Cherry Burst.

Mariah Carey @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Cameron Diaz @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

“I wanted to blend my old Hollywood inspiration from the dress with the sunny California girl that is Cameron. So I paired the classic CHANEL red mouth with the golden sunny California eye.” — Robin Fredriksz, Makeup Artist

Make Up:

“I used the gold shadow from the CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Mystic Eyes in the outer corner of Cameron’s lids and crease, and then I used the darker peach and gold mixed together from CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow Quad in Demure on her lids. I lined her eye with CHANEL Precision Eye Definer in Khaki Dore, and finished with CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. On her lips she wore CHANEL Rouge Allure Laque in Dragon.” — Robin Fredriksz, Makeup Artist

Make Your Lipstick Last Longer

Make Your Lipstick Last Longer

No matter what shade of lipstick you opt for, however, here are some tips to ensure your color stays put until the clock strikes twelve.

1. Create a Smooth Canvas. “Our lips tend to get try during the winter months; if you’re wearing a bold lip it’s mandatory to prime the lip for a seamless application,” says Gina Brooke, artistic director for Shu Uemura.

“Make sure lips aren’t dry or chapped by gently exfoliating with a soft toothbrush or a sugar scrub,” says Mara Levarre, Mariah Carey’s makeup artist. “Follow with a tiny bit of balm, but not too much or else lips will look greasy.”

2. Use Lip Liner. “Pick a color the same tone as your lips to give fullness to the mouth,” says Levarre. A nude liner will also ensure that should your lipstick fade throughout the night—you won’t be left with a dark, telltale outline.

3. Layer Your Color. For triple coverage, apply a stain the same color as your lipstick ("A stain won't rub off during parties," says makeup artist Mai Quynh, who works with Megan Fox, Miley Cyrus, and Kristen Stewart). Layer your lipstick and a similarly tinted gloss over top for extra staying power.
